Flanker

Description

  • Often Fast, and cheep but not limited to so. Some players may choose to use larger hulls to accomplish this, but they must be mindful and communicate with their team.

Operations

  • Hunting missions
  • Back Capture missions

Hunting missions

  • Targeting a high value target, such as a carrier, a battleship, or a sniper group, a hunting mission is focused on destroying the enemy and not on the game mode objectives.

    • Success will remove a valuable piece from play and give your team a points gap to leverage for success in the game mode objectives.

    • Failed Minor, You wasted your time and may have lost a low value ship in this operation. Major, you may have baited your team into a bad engagement and/or lost the majority of your contributing points without doing equal damage to the other team. (It is important to communicate your loss to your team members to inform them of the current points deficit or cause them to fall back from the engagement.)

Back Capture missions

  • Capturing a point that is not favorable to your team's starting position can be difficult but valuable. By sending a small hull to capture, hopefully undetected, you force the other team to invest resources into a encounter that they may not be ready for.
    • Success, By louring a large ship away from the center conflict, you give your allies an advantage. If you are prepared, and they only send a small craft to recapture the point, you can remove that hull from play and cause them to send more resources. (Remember not to over stay, if you are outgunned RUN.)
    • Failure, it is possible that you lose your craft to an unseen circumstances, such as mines or a surprise cruiser. It is important to asses the risk and use caution.
